Highlight

Frequent guest conductor Yang Yang picks two oft-neglected works associated with two Austrian cities. In 1783, Mozart was staying in Linz (Austria’s third largest city at that time) and composed his Symphony No.36. The work has been affectionately known as “Linz” ever since. Six decades later in Vienna, in 1841, Schumann completed his Symphony No.1, a work marked by the early bliss in his marriage with Clara Schumann, filled with tender emotions and beautiful melodies. You might say these two works are not widely known, but they are intimate and appealing. It’s music that touches the heart!
