HIGHLIGHT

The first of the “Homage to Beethoven” series features two works that represent different aspects of the classical master. While Overture to Egmont depicts a great heroic figure, Symphony No.6 (“Pastoral”) pays tribute to nature, forging a new path into Romanticism and program music. Chinese composer Ye Xiaogang’s Mount E’mei depicts one of the great mountains in the country—it is a contemporary work that combines both the “heroic” and “pastoral” attributes of Ludwig van Beethoven.
