Cui Linhan currently holds the positions of Principal Conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Toronto Artist Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of Italy’s Palermo Classica Festival.

A sought-after artist after her wins in 2021 in the Malko International Conducting Competition (second prize) and Korean National Symphony Orchestra International Conducting Competition (third prize), she has led the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Orchestre National de Lille, China Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, China NCPA Orchestra, Bochum Symphony, Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Canada Festival Orchestra, Toronto Artist Symphony Orchestra, Xinghai Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Symphony Orchestra and Indiana University Conductor’s Orchestra.

During the 2019/2020 season, Cui was appointed Conducting Fellow by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where she worked under Marin Alsop. In the 2022/2023 season, she was a Dudamel Fellow at the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Cui made her debut with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in 2023 conducting The Greater Bay Area Festival Orchestra (comprised of musicians from the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Orchestra and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra) in the opening concert of Youth Music Culture The Greater Bay Area 2024. During her first season (2024/2025) as GSO Principal Conductor, she stepped in at short notice to conduct Bruckner’s Symphony No.6 to great acclaim, becoming the first female Chinese conductor born after 1990 to lead a Bruckner symphony.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Maxim Vengerov, Julian Rachlin, Plácido Domingo, Liu Shikun and Li-Wei Qin, among others.

Born in Shenyang, Cui started her professional training at the age of 18 under the tutelage of Professor Ming Liu; she was the only accepted conducting student at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music at that time. Cui is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in orchestral conducting at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of Arthur Fagen. She also holds a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Marin Alsop.
