HIGHLIGHT

This concert highlights the solo flute, a modern instrument inspiring a string of world-class virtuosos, of which Emmanuel Pahud is among the most renowned today. While the program opens with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, the remaining works derive from the operatic world, of which many are specially arrangements for flute and orchestra—from Mozart’s Magic Flute, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Verdi’s Rigoletto to Bizet’s Carmen. Let the most enchanting vocal tunes—adapted brilliantly for the flute—take you on a roller-coaster ride experiencing young love, family hatred and vicious revenge as well as great magnanimity.
