Highlight

An old friend of the GSO, David Stern selects three of Mozart’s orchestral works, all of which reveal the genius that was this classical master. The program begins with the dramatic Overture to Don Giovanni, allegedly completed overnight within three hours. Mozart completed his Symphony No.40—a work that distinguishes his late period—within two weeks, while his Symphony No.25, written at the youthful age of 17, was considered a masterpiece even at his time! You might also notice another rarity: all three works are in minor keys!
