HIGHLIGHT

After his discharge from the French army during the First World War, Maurice Ravel completed his orchestral work Le Tombeau de Couperin, a reminder to all of us to treasure what is beautiful in the world. Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.2, composed at the youthful age of 20, effuses energy and optimism rarely found in his later works. Brahms’s Symphony No.3, completed in 1883 when the composer was 50, is the shortest of his symphonic output. The work’s melodic richness received the highest praise from Antonín Dvořák, who claimed it has surpassed all of Brahms’s creations up to then.
