HIGHLIGHT

Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No.4, which came into being when the composer was blissfully in love, is a work filled with an invigorating quest for life. Subsequent ups and downs might have bruised Beethoven’s pride, but his response was even more daring, determined to find unbridled joy with his “apotheosis of the dance” in his Symphony No.7. Although hearing loss beleaguered him, he refused to compromise, making a triumph of this work.
